Miss Jessica Redd stood and waited in the third built press conference room in the 777 Arena, only the slight tapping of her high-heeled right toe betraying her frustration. The room was grandiose compared to the other press rooms, with enormously vaulted ceilings and two sky lights letting in early morning sun. A black tarp with the 777 Championship Wrestling logo emblazened on it covered the back wall in its entirety, hiding behind it some new feature that made THIS room important. All of that was second to Miss Redd's thoughts though, as she continued to wait for --
"Yes, no, I hear you. And it is still going to be worth your time, and I'm sure a man like 'Mr. PPV' would find a way to be worth even more, right? Good! I will anxiously await when your plane lands. Great doing business with you." Quentin pushed his way through two side double doors, finishing his conversation, and immediately sticking his head under the tarp. Jessica's impatient twitch moved up to drumming fingers on her crossed forearms.
"Are you sure this is a good idea, Quentin?"
"And a good morning to you, as well, Miss Redd. Really, what happened to courtesy these days."
"Good morning, Quentin. Are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Of course it is. I thought of it."
"It seems monumentally foolish."
"You had me with the first part. It will be monumental!"
"You will more than likely lose millions."
"Making billions, Miss Redd. Money is made and spent to make more money. When do the press arrive?"
Miss Redd slowly looked to her watch. "Thirty ... three minutes ago."
"What are you doing, standing there then, bring them in. I have an announcement to make."
((to be continued ...))

The doors to the press finally opened, flooding in all the held at bay men and women ready to hear what could possibly be the next big step from this company and the world's self-proclaimed "Luckiest Man Alive." Quentin Ohmega and Miss Jessica Redd stood beside a podium, a huge black tarp hiding ... something. "I know you are all curious about what I have to say. I know the rumors have run rampant as I was gathering more talent for the big big things to come! So let's squash a few. No, Miss Jessica Redd is not leaving the company. She helped found it, and her wrestling knowledge and booking insight is absolutely necessary, nigh, invaluable to 777 Championship Wrestling. Yes, I've been in talks with some big names from some of the other major promotions, and there will be some interesting surprises in the future. And, yes, all talent are signed to a one-year $0.00 annual salary. But ..." Miss Jessica Redd pulled the tarp down, revealing an ENORMOUS digital board with the 777 Championship Wrestling logo. Somewhere between a horse-racing betters leaderboard and the New York Stock Exchange, it proudly presented statistics like height and weight, hometown, and betting odds for many potential future matches, episodes and PPVs. Hundreds of flashes from cameras and the roaring buzz of a press bewildered by the new wall brought a smile to Quentin's face. Miss Redd stood stoically to the side. "These are The Scales. Here, every match will be weighed, and every one of our roster will be held accountable. And as you can see, their salary will be public knowledge." Quentin pointed up to the three current roster members on the board: Truman, Miles Infinity, and Brad Lockwood. Wins, losses, height, weight, salary, odds, and hometown were all on the board, as well as a lot of other potential slots were there. "Quiet down, everyone. Let's show how this thing works. Every show, every PPV, there will be betting odds for the announced matches. Everyone here at the 777 Casino can bet. But more importantly, our roster can also bet. And that is how they can make their money. Every time they win, they will make money. And there will be plenty of other interesting opportunities for them to make some money. But the best way to make money is to risk it all. High risk, high reward. Make a bet, play the odds, bet on yourself, or hedge your bets and put money on your opponent. "That said, there will also be things to spend that money on. Such as, if any of my talent rough up my refs, there will be a $5000 fine. If they rough up any of the rest of the non-security staff, there will be other heavy fines. Destruction of property will have fines. Interfering in matches will cost money. "But that's all downside, let's talk upside. There will be times where our roster can spend money. To add stipulations, to bring weapons into the match, to become a ref for a match, to book their own matches. Lots of interesting options for future capital. And it all starts by winning and making some money. The first way they will do that is on our first episode of Jackpot. But I'll have Miss Jessica Redd talk more about that." As many hands and microphones went up to try to get information from Quentin Ohmega, he ignored them all and left the room. Miss Jessica Redd took to the podium next. " At the inaugural episode of Jackpot, we will have a battle royal to seed a Double Elimination Gold Rush tournament to crown our first ever 777 Heavyweight Champion, which will also earn that talent $1,000,000. It will be a very big accomplishment, and one we wish to very well award. We will also be paying each person in the roster a hundred dollars per seed, with a $1000 bonus to the number 1 seed. So, a wrestler who is thrown out first may make $1000 or more by being the lowest seed, but then they have the highest hill to climb to win that championship. Risk. Reward.
" We will soon also be unveiling another title belt, a Jackpot Television Championship. Every time it is successfully defended, the champion holding it will win $7,777 dollars per opponent beaten. With enough wins, and enough risk going into Three-Way Dances, Four Corners matches, or even 5-Star matches, the Jackpot Champion can easily make much more money than the 777 Heavyweight. BUT ... the Jackpot Television Championship will be defended every week. Period. If you are injured, tough. It must be defended every week." Thank you for your time. More information will be made avaliable in the coming days." Without fielding any other questions, Miss Redd left the room, a woman who just dropped the biggest bombshell in wrestling history.
